EQ Dozen + 53, 54 from Virtual Quilter

Some piecing but more applique … and space for quilting to feature. Everything I like in one quilt design.

A little bit of playtime, and I still like it, but prefer the first design.

Note that all the blocks are from the Electric Quilt Block Library.

My Bright Patches 17, 18 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting.

My favourite for today is the second one, especially the border and the applique blocks.

Tangled String of Beads 41, 42 from Virtual Quilter

Wow! Puzzle time!

If I was quilting these designs I would be adding some quilted lines of beads to link up the applique blocks.

March's Block from Quilt Doodle Doodles...

Welcome March! This month's block features a couple of House Sparrows. They are a sweet little bird that I can always count on to visit my bird feeders. The block is adorned with a couple of daffodils and a few shamrocks for luck. Let me assure you, there are no daffodils blooming in Minnesota this time of year. Sometimes you just have to create your own spring flowers by either buying them at the store or stitching them up on a quilt block.

Autumn Daze 77, 78 from Virtual Quilter

I like it … old fashioned and restful.

I like the second one too, for the same reasons, but like it more than the first because there is applique!

Bunch of Beads 21, 22 from Virtual Quilter

One simple shape … one multi coloured fabric plus a border fabric.

All those simple shapes could be cut from small scraps.

Of all the shapes I have used to design quilts, this simple shape would have to be the most versatile.

Festival Garden 21, 22 from Virtual Quilter

Spring has sprung down under … well, at least the calendar has been turned over. Many of the spring bulbs jumped into action early despite a rather cold winter, and almond blossoms have been and gone.

I think I should plant a creeper on that trellis … or perhaps embroider one!

Sashing or Block 1, 2 from Virtual Quilter

This is a result of trying to draw a block to use instead of sashing an on point applique quilt. It is OK, but not what I was trying to do, so have abandoned the attempt. I am showing you the two quilts I designed and will keep the block in my library, more as a curiosity than a because does what I wanted to do.

The reason it doesn’t appeal to me is that where the blocks meet at the corners looks a bit awkward.

I will continue to play with the block design until it works as ...

Elevenses OP 16, 17, 18 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting.

Love the second one.

I love this one too.

So very different to anything I would normally even think of doing, so have to admit it was a mistake, but not a mistake I regret making!
